Ed Helms and Largo are very happy to announce the 3nd annual L.A. Bluegrass Situation, running the first weekend of May 2012. The past two years have featured amazing music and fun from the likes of Steve Martin, Andrew Bird, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, John C. Reilly, Tom Brosseau, Will Arnett, Paul Scheer, Vince Gill, and many others. We’re building on that foundation this year with an epic line-up of headliners, great guests, and a few surprises.

So how did this all come about? Comedian and actor Ed Helms had been performing for some time on various comedy shows at Largo. It was there he met Largo proprietor and fellow bluegrass fan Mark Flanagan. Flanny and Ed shared a common belief that there simply wasn’t enough bluegrass in the Los Angeles area. Then, after a near-religious experience at the legendary Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Ed came home with a mission to bring more bluegrass to L.A. And he knew exactly where to turn. Over a few too many pints, Ed convinced Flanny that there were surely legions of bluegrass fans hiding all across Los Angeles. They just needed a rallying point to bring the community together! And thus the L.A. Bluegrass Situation was hatched. Now in entering its third year, the festival has become an anticipated annual event at Largo, spreading the gospel of bluegrass to the masses!
